The following criteria would be used in assessing nominations for the various categories of awards. The weighting given to each criterion would differ from one category to the other depending on the impact of each criterion to the overall assessment for that category. However the same criteria and accompanying weighting would be used for every nominee in contention for an award in a particular category to ensure a level playing field for every nominee in that category.
• The wholesomeness of a consumable product
• The safety of the use of a product
• National quality certification of a product
• International quality certification of a product
• Market acceptability of the nominee’s brand quality
• Production input suppliers product quality
• Product distributors assessment of nominee’s brand quality
• Good preventive health programmes and facilities a nominee provides for employees
• Good curative health programmes and facilities a nominee provides for employees
• Health related programmes and facilities a nominee makes available for business affiliates/associates
• Compliance with employee health laws and regulations
• Willingness to pay compensation/take remedial action over employee, or customer health infractions
• Health related programmes and facilities a nominee makes available for customers
• Communal/public health programmes and facilities a nominee provides as CSR
• Safety procedures put in place at the work place
• Safety equipment provided at the work place
• Compliance with safety laws and regulations
• Safety procedures insisted on for a nominee’s suppliers
• Safety procedures insisted on for a nominee’s warehousing and distributors
• Safety procedures advised by a nominee to its customers
• Willingness to pay compensation/take remedial action for employee or customer safety infractions
• Commitment of a nominee to environmental sustainability
• Environmental protection procedures deployed by a nominee
